You may start seeing the colour purple more frequently next month. November is National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. The Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation is launching its purple lights campaign across the country. President Betty Aldridge says the colour helps raise awareness. She says, “What is purple? Why purple? and why the lights? So it’s a great way for people to ask questions and for people to respond. Of course, purple is the colour of hope and we think that’s very appropriate for pancreatic cancer as well.” Purple lights will be displayed for one day or several days in every province – including Fredericton, Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto. Roughly 4,700 Canadians are diagnosed every year with pancreatic cancer – it only has a six per cent survival rate. For more information, you can head to http://pcc.convio.net/site/PageServer .
