There’s only one word to describe the situation in Moncton today… and that’s a mess.
There’s a long list of cancellations, schools are closed, Codiac Transpo has pulled their buses off the roads, and the City of Moncton, Dieppe, and the Town of Riverview are closed today.
Furthermore, there will be no mail delivery and many businesses have closed their doors.

The RCMP and Environment Canada are strongly advising people to stay inside, and not drive anywhere at all, especially on the Trans Canada highway between Moncton and Fredericton.
The City says plows are doing their best to keep up with the snowfall, but it’s coming down very heavily and blowing all over the place because of high winds.
RCMP Corporal Chantal Farrah says unless you absolutely have to leave the house, you shouldn’t because it is dangerous out there.
“These are not favourable conditions to be out on the roads, so that’s why we ask people to minimize their travels,” says Farrah. “And also this greatly helps the snow crews to work because the more vehicles there are on the roads, the harder it is for the snow crews to clean the roads.”
Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote says we can expect the weather to get worse, before it gets better with more than 30 centimetres of snow on the ground by tomorrow.
He adds they have so far seen wind gusts of up to 75 kilometres per hour that is causing whiteout conditions across the province and makes driving particularly dangerous by reducing visibilty to near zero at times.
Overall, if you don’t have to go outside, don’t do so. Stay inside, stay safe and warm.
