Lobster fishermen in Southeastern New Brunswick are having a good fall season with some great catches.
The Maritime Fishermen’s Union says a number of factors are at play including good measures by fishermen to sustain the lobster fishery, an absence of some natural predators and even warmer waters in the Northumberland Strait.
Executive secretary Christian Brun says although this has been a quieter season for lobster prices, the issue is still a concern.
The landing prices for lobster became a major concern last year and the issue became heated at times between fishermen and processors.
In the Southeast region, the fall lobster season is scheduled to come to a close on October 9th.
