A group which advocates for poverty reduction has asked New Brunswick’s five political parties what their positions are on various issues affecting the poor.
The Common Front for Social Justice sought responses on the minimum wage, public programs and taxes.
Provincial coordinator Jean Claude Basque says his group was disappointed that none of the parties felt that social housing should be a priority.
Basque notes the Liberals, NDP and Greens say they would increase the minimum wage and all parties except the People’s Alliance support the province’s drug plan in its current form.
Basque says they agree with tax hikes for the wealthy from the Liberals and the Greens but adds he’s disappointed none of the parties would return to 2008 personal tax levels.
