With schools reopening, the Business Community Anti-Poverty Initiative in Saint John is suggesting the current method of education funding in the province may be missing the mark and leaving many disadvantaged students behind.
Spokesperson Tom Gribbons points out one area of concern is a lack of resources in high schools to keep students at risk from becoming disinterested in their studies and dropping out where they will then face a dead end future
Gribbons says it’s the business community’s contention that the inner city schools are underfunded and it just makes sense to reallocate resources to where they’re needed if you’re seeking equal outcomes.
