MONCTON, N.B. – The former Highfield Square property is now in the hands of the City of Moncton.
The city announced in a press release late yesterday that it has officially acquired the property for $12.5 million.
Mayor George LeBlanc says the site is the ideal location to build the proposed downtown entertainment centre and the deal marks an important milestone in moving the project forward.
Demolition of the old mall and environmental work at the site is expected to be completed within the next 90 days.
