Investigators remain on scene at 10 Belmont Drive this morning trying to determine a cause for a fire.
It broke out in the three storey apartment building just before 8am this morning.
A woman suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.
And Moncton Deputy Fire Chief Don McCabe says they also had to offer assistance to a dog.
McCabe says the dog wasn’t breathing when he was brought out. Firefighters and the Veterinarian used a pet mask for oxygen and also performed CPR on the Yorkshire Terrier, and he went from not breathing to take really deep breaths of oxygen.
The dog was taken to a vet clinic to be treated further, but there’s no word on his condition.
At least 20 tenants have been left temporarily homeless.
The Canadian Red Cross is assisting.
There’s extensive smoke and water damage to at least two apartment units.
