Anglophone East is expanding its Imagination Library to include Shediac Cape.
The Imagination Library is funded by the Shediac Rotary Club, and it provides a free book per month in the mail for children between the ages of 0 and 5.
This enables them to build their own library, by the time they go to school.
Community Engagement Coordinator at Anglophone East Stephanie Patterson says this helps to inspire a love of reading in young children, “It helps to promote early literacy. A huge component for children to be prepared for school is having access to books. It costs about $60 per month, per child registered in the program, so the Shediac Rotary Club is supporting that.”
The inspiration for an Imagination Library came from a program in Tennessee that was launched by Dolly Parton in 1996.
The is the 14th catchment areas in Anglophone East where this program is offered.
You must register your child first.
