The City of Moncton is revisiting the issue of fluoride in the drinking water supply.
Council is holding a special Committee-of-the-Whole meeting on January 30th where only special interest groups will be allowed to make presentations.
However, residents are encouraged to submit their comments online at the City of Moncton website.
No decision will be made in January, as Council is looking for information and comments only.
Councillors will review and then debate the information at a second meeting to be scheduled a few weeks later.
In December of 2011, Council voted to stop putting fluoride into the water supply for five years, at which point they would review the issue again.
That motion in 2011 was moved by Councillor Paul Pellerin, and seconded by Councillor Pierre Boudreau.
It was passed 6 – 4, with Councillors Merrill Henderson, Nancy Hoar, Kathryn Barnes, and Mayor George LeBlanc voting nay, as shown below on Page 3 of the December 19th, 2011 Council Meeting Minutes.
