You could live a longer and better life by eating more seafood, according to the Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Assocation.
Executive Director Pamela Parker says an increase could generate billions of dollars in health care savings.
She says eating two to three servings of a healthy oily fish like salmon every week has proven benefits.
She says you’ll reduce your risk of coronary death by 36 per cent, and you’ll increase your life expectancy by 2.2 years and you’ll also see your cholesterol rate go down.
Parker says a recent report from the Canadian Aquaculture Alliance says $50 billion would be saved in healthcare costs for coronary deaths alone if people simply ate more seafood.
