A frightening incident in downtown Halifax this morning has led to an arrest. Police recovered a firearm on a city transit bus and made an arrest at around 11 this morning. Officers flocked to the downtown after a passerby made a report to police. A citizen called police after noting someone with what looked like a gun wrapped in a cloth near Scotiabank Centre (formerly Metro Centre). There’s no word on the identity of the man or if charges are being laid. Halifax Police spokesperson Pierre Bourdages says several businesses and a school in the area voluntarily closed their doors and went into a hold and secure mode while the investigation was ongoing.
