Lunenburg County RCMP have planted three red maple trees to recognize their fallen comrades in Moncton. The three officers were gunned down in June. Staff-Sergeant Jean-Guy Richard is the District Commander for Lunenburg. He says the three trees symbolize the same values as Mounties. “You can’t get any more Canadian than red maples, of course, and they are a sturdy, solid tree that will obviously be here for generations to come.” The trees were planted on the front lawn of the Cookville detachment earlier this month. Richard says the trees serve as a constant reminder and will keep the officer’s memory and spirit alive.
