The Gallant government has announced a number of school projects in its almost $96 million education spending plan for next year.
In Southeast New Brunswick, a new middle school with grades 3 to 8 will be built in Dieppe to help alleviate overcrowding at existing schools but the site has yet to be chosen.
Acting on a pledge from the previous Conservative government, the Liberals have committed to building a new Ecole Champlain in Lewisville.
The existing school on Mill Road has been plagued with pollution problems from a nearby industrial zone.
A study will also be carried out at Northrop Frye School in Moncton’s rapidly growing northwest end.
An addition is planned for Riverview High School.
Harrison Trimble High School will undergo what the province calls “a mid-life upgrade”, which identifies schools with significant deficiencies due to age and size.
