The Atlantic Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is not all that impressed with the just-released provincial budget. Kevin Lacey says it falls far short of making progress to balance the budget and to control taxes.
He says while the higher income taxes for wealthy New Brunswickers might sound good, it could potentially affect the health and the economy of the province – saying if you’re a doctor and you live outside of New Brunswick and you’re offered a position in the province one of the things you’re going to look at is how much you’re going to pay.
Lacey also says the increase in fuel taxes will bite into the pocketbooks of average taxpayers.
And as for the contingency fund, he says that makes no sense when you’re already running a deficit.
