There are stacks and stacks of boxes filled with ballots from the provincial election that will have to be counted by hand as recounts are underway for Saint John East and Saint John Harbour.
Conservative Glen Savoie lost by 8 votes to Liberal Gary Keating in Saint John East and says it could be Saturday before everything is said and done.
Savoie says the last thing we need is to have voter confidence eroded when turnouts have been going down election after election. He says if the hand recounts match up with the number of ballots cast electronically on election night, that will go a long way to restoring voter confidence and adds whether he winds up winning or losing is less important than the integrity of the voting system.
Savoie says his big regret is not being able to get more people engaged during his four years as an M-L-A.
Saint John Harbour is not as close with Liberal Ed Doherty winning over Conservative Carl Killen by 71 votes.
