It was a packed house as parents, students and others in the the Dorchester community attended last night’s meeting in an effort to help save their school.
There were about 75 in attendance. It was the first of a number of meetings to be held.
A sustainability study was launched last week, to look at whether or not the school should be closed in an effort to save money.
The advantages, to the district if it chooses to close the school, it would amount to a potential savings of over 565 thousand dollars.
But the disadvantages include having to bus students to Sackville, which means 55 minutes on the bus every morning and afternoon.
Dorchester Consolidated school was built in 1956, and is a kindergarten to grade 8 school..It currently has 65 students, and is only at 25 per cent capacity.
