A local teacher is heading to Dubai this weekend to participate in the Global Education and Skills Forum.
Riverview Middle School Teacher Armand Doucet says it’s a terrific opportunity to learn from some of the world leader’s on education.
He says one topic he wants to hear about is how changing communities and lifestyles affect education.
“That brings into schools a different type of issues and different type of realities we need to deal with and address,” says Doucet. “It’s gonna be an interesting conference to see what these world visionaries have got in mind and how they see it.”
A topic of interest for Doucet is technology integration.
He says “we’ve got all sorts of tools that are out there that we can share our knowledge with and the Anglophone East School District – we’ve got a private portal that all the teachers can share stuff on and I’ll definitely put some stuff on that and maybe we’ll give it some professional development in our own school.”
Doucet adds many other topics will address issues that are important to New Brunswickers.
“There’s also talks about what the business world is going to need in the next couple years, and how do we develop that type of innovativeness creativeness and literacy skills,” says Doucet. “There’s also gonna be a lot of talk on the obesity epidemic and how do we address this.”
Doucet expects to be able to bring back lots of vauable information, skills and methods from the conference in Dubai.
