A bill to amend workers compensation for New Brunswick’s first responders to include Post Traumatic Stress disorder has passed second reading in the New Brunswick legislature.
MLA for Gagetown-Petitcodiac Ross Wetmore introduced the bill that will allow first responders to receive compensation for PTSD without having to prove their condition is work-related.
Wetmore says he is very pleased that the government agreed with the principle of this bill and look forward to them bringing it to committee of the whole.
Alberta became the first province to enact such legislation in 2012, and other provinces have legislation in various stages of development.
