It was an emotional night at the Anglophone East District Education Council meeting as they unanimously voted to keep Dorchester Consolidated School Open.
PSSC Spokesperson Randy Cadman says they can’t afford to rest on their laurels, and must find new ways to maximize school use.
Cadman says they have to look at daycares, afterschool activities, bringing more activities into the school and drawing more people to the community of Dorchester.
Cadman says another option is creating a multicultural centre in the school to increase community use.
He adds they haven’t been granted a permanent lease on life, but have to focus on offsetting the costs of running the school.
