The new YWCA building in Moncton to house young mothers and children is coming along nicely.
That’s according to Executive Director Jewel Mitchell.
She says plans for the redesign are almost complete and construction is expected to start in September.
“We’ll know shortly what that construction phase will look like and that will certainly help us with our timelines, we certainly are moving forward and we’ve got a great property there so we’re certainly excited,” says Mitchell.
Mitchell says they are anxious to start the work because they already have women calling to put their name on a waitlist.
She says the community support has been overwhelming.
“I think people can really get behind the idea of a project that is really helping vulnerable young moms and women in our community realy get a head start in life,” says Mitchell.
They have raised more than 1.25 million dollars of their goal of 1.85 million.
