One of 91.9 The Bend’s Summer Cruiser Girls is taking a three month trip to India to volunteer with children.
Shelby Carson will be working at an orphanage outside New Delhi.
She says her love of volunteering was born in college where she had to have a certain number of volunteer hours.
“After doing that, I just kinda started to like volunteering and feeling fulfilled after doing it and not expecting anything in return,” says Carson.
She adds she will spend her weekends travelling across the subcontinent.
“I really want to go to all the temples, the Taj Mahal, I want to go to the Ganges River and see what India is all about, the spirituality and the culture,” says Carson.
She says this will be her first time officially working with kids, other than babysitting when she was younger, but she loves kids and expects to have a great time being able to make a positive impact in people’s lives.
