A new sponsor means a new name for the 4-Ice centre.
It is now officially the Superior Propane Centre.
President of Moncton 4 Ice Sports Warren Frizzell says because they are a not-for-profit, having a community partner like this is crucial.
“Every cent that we bring in no matter whether it’s through an ice rental, or whether it’s through selling anything in our restaurant and cafeteria, anything we bring in here goes to offset the cost of the ice,” says Frizzell.
He says Superior Propane is paying to convert the building from natural gas to propane which will lead to more predictable energy costs.
Frizzell says every year when they put their budget together, one of the biggest problems was keeping up with the fluctuating costs of natural gas.
The Superior Propane deal is inked for the next 5 years, although Frizzell says they are hoping to extend that cooperation for many years down the line.
