The Chair of the Atlantic Maple Leaf, an organization that raises money for members of the military, says the Garrison Building should not have been sold to Food Depot Alimentaire.
Elizabeth Rybak is concerned that the Garrison – that she says was built specifically for the cadets, reserves and first responders – has been sold for a purpose that it was not designed for.
She says we are turning a gym, into a food bank when what we need is a gym for these groups to train in.
“D.N.D. has specificially ruled out the food bank using the facility for any other purposes. Even if the food bank and cadets were willing to share the facility, that would not be possible under this deal.”
Rybak says there are other vacant buildings just blocks away and there are alternatives that could be used for the food bank instead.
