For those Dieppe residents who have been patiently awaiting the opening of a new outdoor skating rink, your wait will soon be over.
Project Manager Jason Nadeau says construction is right on schedule, “We’re hoping to have the ice functional in about a week and a half to two weeks from now.”
Nadeau says temperatures don’t play a big role in whether or not they have ice, with the cooling systems underneath, they are able to produce ice up to plus 12 degrees.
The rink is equipped with piping for refrigeration underneath, similar to what is used in an indoor rink.
The grand opening for the 1.4 million dollars rink will be held on January 6th, but Nadeau expects residents will be lacing up their skates before that.
