With just over a week until Canada Day celebrations in the City of Moncton, the excitement continues to build.
This year’s events will include a recognition for Canada’s 150th, and it is being billed as the biggest ever for Greater Moncton.
Director of Tourism and Events for the City of Moncton Gillian Somers says this year’s celebrations will include a beer garden, that will promote local, “It is something new that they are trying this year, and we are excited about it for the opportunity to promote local. We are going to do that on Assomption so that you can still see the stage from there, and that will be happened later in the day. You can sample some of what our region has to offer as well.”
Another new addition will be a beach that is being created in the downtown, complete with sand. it is thanks to a partnership with Festival Inspire, and it will include beach yoga, a silent disco dance party and giant lobster and a lemonade stand.
Somers advises everyone to plan ahead if they are thinking about making the trip downtown on July 1st, “Make some plans, because it is a large footprint. Make sure you don’t miss out because there are a lot of things happening that day.”
Festivities will include something for everyone, and Canada Day will wrap up with a large fireworks display.
The Canada 150 mainstage, which will be located in the Riverfront parking lot, will light up from 4pm until 10, with performers that include Kingston Ontario rockers The Glorious Sons, and Alan Doyle.
