Health minister Victor Boudreau is emphasizing Medavie is a not-for-profit organization and health care services are not being privatized.
“This is not a cost cutting exercise. But rather an opportunity to build capacity through enhanced collaboration. There will be no job losses as a part of this initiative,” he says.
For employees, Boudreau notes pay, benefits and pensions will remain the same and provisions in collective agreements will be respected.
Medavie CEO Bernard Lord adds this agreement will create more space in hospitals by shifting health care delivery into patients’ homes and communities.
