This is the first day of school in New Brunswick and Codiac RCMP are urging both drivers and students to get back into a routine.
Mounties say drivers should be cautious in school zones and obey the 30 km/h speed limit between 8am and 4pm each school day.
Drivers should also respect crosswalks and traffic must stop in both directions when school buses have flashing red lights.
Staff Sargeant Eric Larose says traffic safety is a two-way street so parents and guardians should talk to their kids about safety as the school year begins.
Students should look both ways before crossing the street, make eye contact with drivers and avoid distractions such as texting while walking.
If there is no sidewalk, always walk on the left hand side of the road so you can see oncoming traffic.
