The Riverview Boys and Girls Club has receive some great news from the province, that will help with their Raising the Grade program.
Executive Director Lynda Carey told us they will get the funding they need to keep the program going for another two years, “We received word from the provincial government and the Department of Education and Early Learning, Mr Kenny’s office, that our program will receive the funding that we requested, which was $50, 000 a year for the next two years.”
Currently, the program is being used to benefit high school students, But Carey’s hope is to see the program expand, “For the past four years, we’ve been using the program to reach just high school students, and what we are hoping to do is start seeing middle school children and given them the support to include even more students in other grades. We’ll be able to see some of the ideas from the staff come true.”
The Raising the Grade program has helped around 75 students since it began, four years ago.
