Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Saint John Mayor Don Darling hosting a joint news conference to talk about their support for Energy East.
The project seems stalled since TransCanada put its own application to the National Energy Board on hold.
Mayor Darling says where we sit the applicant has expensed a tremendous amount in this process and it’s unclear how we move forward.
Mayor Nenshi was asked if they joined forces just to show the NEB and Quebec they mean business.
He thinks its important to tell the Federal government to not let politics get in the way of a world-leading regulatory system but improve it.
Nenshi says do better indigenous consultation and figure out a better way to get the public involved in the consultation but the government should allow the NEB to do it’s job.
