A number of conservation groups including the Conservation Council of New Brunswick are trying to get answers from the Trudeau government about what is being done to stop aquaculture companies on both sides of the country from violating disposal at sea laws.
A retired Environment Canada employee, Bill Ernst, complained to Environment and Climate Change Canada that drugs, disinfectants and pesticides were being dumped into the sea by aquaculture activities.
Fundy Baykeeper Matt Abbott says so far nothing has been done about it even though the ECCC admits the regulations have been violated.
Abbott says they have been having correspondence back and forth with the Environment Minister’s office but are not getting the answers they are looking for; basically what is going to be done to stop it
