A past president of the Moncton West and Riverview Rotary Club is seeking the Liberal Party nomination in Moncton Southwest for the 2018 provincial election.
At the age of 12, Susy Campos arrived in Canada as a refugee from Nicaragua with her mother, and since that day she promised to give back to her new country.
She says public service is one of those ways, and she’s looking forward to helping Premier Brian Gallant make Moncton Southwest the best that it can be in terms of quality of life, infrastructure and employment.
Campos says it’s a challenging riding with a combination of rural and urban areas, and she feels a new perspective should be brought to the table in order to fight for investment, action and progress for the riding.
She is currently the President and CEO of Community Grants Associates Inc, a consulting firm focused on developing different funding strategies for non-profit organizations, colleges and universities, cities and counties.
Her expertise includes programs involving education, health, transportation, economic development, domestic violence, human rights and social services.
Campos has been involved in local community boards and committees, including the Moncton Headstart Foundation, the Greater Moncton SPCA, and Greater Moncton Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Moncton Southwest is currently held by Progressive Conservative MLA Sherry Wilson.
Wilson has not publicly stated her intentions regarding the riding as yet.
The nomination meeting is being held on Wednesday October 4th, in anticipation of the New Brunswick provincial election scheduled for September 24th, 2018.
