Eight NBCC students are over the moon with their experience staying overnight at the Dorchester Jail, which is now an Airbnb.
Brooke McCleary and her friends were undaunted by the tales of stabbings, suicide and hangings at the jail run by owner Bill Steele.
“Bill was really inviting, and he even took us to the attic which was really spooky, and we went to Death Row a few times and we stood exactly where all the hangings happened,” says McCleary.
She and her friends stayed two per cell, and toured supernatural hotspots in the jail, which has seen at least one suicide, a stabbing, and several hangings.
“And one of them, people are known to be poked in, and one of the girls actually experienced it,” says McCleary. “And we hung out mostly in the common room which is where most of the prisoners would have hung out when they were there, and someone’s hair on half of their head stood up.”
McCleary adds that was not their only unusual experience.
“There’s these two boys, the Bannister Brothers that were famous for being there because they killed a family and took the baby,” says McCleary. “And when we were reading their story all eight of us were in a cell and we were hearing footsteps from above us and no one was in the jail except for us.”
She reports they had so much fun and found it so amazing they are planning a return trip in November.
McCleary says they intend to hold a seance during their next visit!
