When Sears Canada leaves Champlain Mall, the retail giant will leave more than 107,000 square feet of empty space.
Currently one of the mall’s anchor tenants, Sears Canada is holding liquidation sales as it prepares to shut down nationwide.
CF Champlain marketing spokesperson Stephanie Hansen says Sears is expected to leave the mall by the end of January at the latest.
Hansen says the closure presents an opportunity to provide unique experiences.
She adds plans for the space will be announced when appropriate.
Sears Canada has about 200 retail employees in New Brunswick and several hundred more work at two call centres in the province.
