It was a lengthy debate, to decide whether or not a football field at the former Moncton High would be rezoned as a parking lot.
Mayor Dawn Arnold says with presentations from several groups, both for and opposed, it took over four hours.
In the end, City Council voted to move forward with the rezoning, with conditions with regards to the use of the football field.
This will see the field converted into a parking lot with 559 spaces.
Mayor Arnold stated in a Facebook post that preservation of the building is a top priority, as is the ongoing protection of green spaces.
