Moncton residents will notice a change in their water and sewer rates for 2018.
Deputy Treasurer Andrea Flanders says the rates are increasing, which she says is not unusual, “Fundamentally, the residential customer will see very little change. Theresidential utilities budget is increasing 2.7 per cent. This year they can expect $2.25 a month or $6.75 a quarter on average. That could vary depending on how much you use.”
For commercial customers, they have made changes to the way they are charged, “We had three categories before. You were less than an inch, one to two inches or greater than two inch service pipe. In our network, we have services that range from a one inch to greater than an eight inch services, so obviously they have very different cost structures. They will be paying for their consumption when consumed, and they will not pay a fixed fee,” Flanders says.
