The federal government has announced $8.2 million dollars to protect the shoreline near Alma and the southeast entrance of Fundy National Park.
Fundy Royal MP Alaina Lockhart took part in the event today at the Salt and Fir Centre.
The project will involve using armoured stone and rip rap along Alma Beach adjacent to Highway 114 to prevent erosion.
A new longer boardwalk will also be built with new observation platforms providing access to the beach.
Construction will take place throughout the winter and should be completed by next spring.
