Prime Minister Trudeau met with the Chinese Premier, calling it successful despite no announcement yet of the start of formal negotiations on a free trade deal.
Trudeau says there’s a lot at stake for Canada considering the scale of the Chinese economy. He adds it would also be precedent setting for China, representing the first ever free trade deal with a G-7 country.
The Chinese Premier says the two countries have entered what he calls a golden age of relations. They have been in exploratory talks on a free trade agreement for months but Trudeau says when talking trade with any country, Canada will not be a pushover.
