The City of Dieppe is hoping to get a full season out of its skating oval this year.
It opened November 12th, and Senior Manager of Culture, Leisure and Community Life Division at the City of Dieppe Luc Bujold says many are lacing up their skates, and enjoying the milder temperatures we’ve had, “The public has been saying how much fun it is to skate when it is not minus 20 outside. Our goal is to operate until March 2018, so we will have a much longer season.”
Last year, the oval was forced to close briefly, due to refrigeration issues.
“Our goal this year was to open early, because with the refrigeration system you can make ice in warmer temperatures. The facility has been really busy since we opened. Friday and Saturdays are often the busiest days, ” says Bujold.
The oval is open every day at 10am and closes at 9:30pm, with a flood of the ice at 1pm and again at 5pm.
Another mild day is expected tomorrow with a forecasted high of 10 degrees for Greater Moncton.
