Operators of child care facilities will now be eligible for $12.2 million in grants.
This is a part of a plan from the provincial government to designate hundreds of facilities as Early Learning Centres.
Daycares with children five and under in New Brunswick will be able to apply for a One-Time Quality Improvement Grant.
The one-time grants will total $4.7 million over the next two years.
A $7.5 million annual Quality Grant will also be provided to help the facilities to meet the criteria of becoming a designated New Brunswick Early Learning Centre.
A commitment was made in August by the provincial and federal governments, to transform as many centres as possible in Early Learning Centres.
Their goal is to designate more than 300 by 2020.
Seven Centres of Excellence in preschool education will also be created, with one in each school district.
