With the recent #Me Too movement, there is a desire to bring more victims forward to talk about their experiences..
Rotary Resurgo is hosting a two part dialogue, that will face the issue of sexual harassment and misconduct head on..
Founder Nadine Duguay-Lemay says they are hoping to find out if this type of behaviour exists in the Greater Moncton community, “Whehter you are a victim or if you ahve friends who have been victim of sexual realted harassments in your workplace or in your life, you can expect experts talking about statistics and letting you know that your are not alone.”
Nadine Duguay-Lemay says one of the issues is that many women are afraid to come forward, “They feel that their community has abandoned them. In many cases, some of the victims have come forward, whether it was trhrough law enforcement or through their workplace, and nothing was really done.”
There will be several experts panellists, including one from Crossroads for Women, and from the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre…
“This is an issue that needs to be discussed openly. For the business communication, for organizations as a whole, it does exist and we can’t turn a blind eye to it. Quoting Tina Thiboadeau from Crossroads for Women, we cannot just be bystanders either. if you witness something we need to talk about it, ” Duguay-Lemay says
The first part of the dialogue is being held on December 12th at the Wingate Hotel in Dieppe starting at 6 o’clock.
