Given the increase in demand for bilingual paramedics in New Brunswick, Oulton College has partnered with the Universite de Moncton to provide French-language training for students.
College president Darcie Robichaud says starting in February, the Primary Care Paramedic Program will offer five French courses.
“We will set them up in a classroom with the appropriate technology and we will do it like a class but it will be using the online platform from the University of Moncton and the University of Moncton will provide the support to monitor their progress in those French language courses,” she notes.
Robichaud says the program is not bilingual but rather a chance for students to study in English while improving their French language skills.
She adds an English-only Primary Care Paramedic Program will still be offered next September.
