The Université of Moncton is choosing a longtime professor and administrator to take over as interim President and Vice Chancellor.
Jacques Paul Couturier started at U de M in 1992, and has filled various roles including his current position as vice president of the Edmunston campus.
He will be taking over the role and responsibilities of outgoing President Raymond Theberge, who was recently appointed as the federal Official Languages Commissioner.
Board of Governors President Edith Doucet says Couturier was chosen because of his broad experience, and familiarity with university affairs.
She added her confidence in his ability to fill the mandate with both integrity and skill.
Meanwhile, the process to select a new President and Vice Chancellor is launching in January, and is expected to take about 15 months.
