While some cities in New Brunswick – notably Saint John – have been struggling financially, that’s not the case in Moncton and that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
In a year-end interview, Mayor Dawn Arnold believes momentum has been building in the city and there are construction numbers to prove it.
“Just the last eight months, we’ve had $42 million in building permits in our downtown core when typically we would have $8 million to maybe $20 million a year,” she noted.
Arnold says success has not been by chance referencing how the city has made some strategic investments including the downtown centre and she believes Moncton is now reaping some of the rewards.
The mayor says success breeds success and she adds council obviously wants to see more momentum going forward in 2018.
