The Board of Directors of the Moncton Centre Liberal Riding Association voted unanimously to support incumbent MLA Chris Collins, who is facing accusations of harassment.
The association said a hastily arranged news conference on April 5th left viewers with the impression Collins was found to have done something wrong.
The association is making it clear while Collins is facing accusations, he has not been found guilty of any misconduct.
Association President Audrey Lampert says a very senior government member recently promised a Liberal nomination convention would not be held until the investigation was complete.
Lampert asked for it to be done expeditiously, given the deadline for nominations is September 4th, with the election less than three weeks later.
Despite numerous requests for comment, Collins himself has not spoken publicly about the situation.
