It was a busy night for fires in Greater Moncton.
Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says they responded to calls on Meriland Court in North Moncton at around 11:30pm last night.
“When we arrived, we found the garage was fully involved with fire and we were clearly on a defensive strategy with this one,” Gaudet says.
He says they also received several calls indicating that the flames were beginning to spread,
“Those calls were identifying that the fire was starting to spread into the neighbouring woods. There was a potential that it was going to go to another property. I called in Dieppe and Riverview Fire to assist,” Gaudet says.
Gaudet says they were on the scene for around three hours. The garage was destroyed. There’s no word on a cause yet.
Just as they were wrapping up, they receive word of two cars on fire in the Lewisville area.
Gaudet says they were both parked in driveways at homes on Willowbend Drive.
“They were in the driveways and they were close to structures, and at this point we do believe that those fire are suspicious,” Gaudet says.
No one was hurt in any of the fires.
