Former Moncton mayor George LeBlanc is among many in the city who are anxiously awaiting the opening of the new downtown centre.
LeBlanc notes how it has been a long and winding road toward a successful completion.
The project began under his watch but LeBlanc says he can’t take all of the credit.
“This wasn’t just my project, this was council’s project. This is a lot of people in the city and a lot of organizations who really moved this forward,” he says.
LeBlanc says he had a sneak preview of the new downtown centre but like Christmas he doesn’t want to unwrap the gifts too early.
He adds he would like to be there with everyone else when it officially opens this summer.
