More skilled workers are needed for new jobs at APEX Industries in Moncton.
Up to 80 full time positions are being created over the next two years..
CEO Keith Parlee says they’ll increase their machining capacity to serve aerospace and defence, as well as oil and gas markets.
“We hire a lot of our folks out of the NBCC system. Probably about 75 per cent of the people we have here at APEX come out of that system. It’s the Planners and Machinists, Project management, working with Customers and so forth. It’s all the different types of roles,” Parlee says.
Salaries for the various roles will also depend on the job itself.
“We have people that deburr parts in Aerospace and we have others who plan every 6000 parts that go through the shop. So, it varies. As you get into higher skilled roles, obviously the pay goes up,” Parlee adds.
A $2.6 million dollar investment is being made for the first phase of the expansion…
$1.5 million is a repayable contribution through ACOA’s Business Development program.
$1.1 million is coming from the provincial government. $600, 000 of that is in payroll rebates.
