The entire province of New Brunswick is now under a burn ban and that includes campfires, burning debris and even fire pits in your backyard.
Wildfire prevention officer Roger Collet says it doesn’t take long for the ground to dry up especially in open areas.
Collet asks everyone to be aware of their surroundings since he adds even a muffler on an ATV can get warm enough to ignite a fire in tall standing grass.
Currently, only a handful of forest fires are burning in the province.
So far this spring, the provincial fire centre has reported more than 150 fires which is slightly above the 10-year average and about three times higher than last year which was very wet.
