Parc du Sommet in Moncton is going to undergo some design changes, including less trees and berms.
That decision was made yesterday by Moncton City Councillors at a Committee of the Whole Meeting.
It took ninety minutes of discussion, including comments from the public.
Three City Councillors voted against, Councillors Shawn Crossman, Paulette Theriault and Paul Pellerin.
This comes after concerns from neighbours of the park, who say it has become overrun by drug use, prostitution and other illegal activities, hidden within the berms.
The cost of the redesign and removal of trees will come in at around $180,000.
The redesign will include more lighting and will enable a better sightline across the park.
