More than 25,000 customers were without power in the Greater Moncton area as of about 3 o’clock this afternoon.
The utility is reporting 16 outages in the area, starting shortly before 2:30 this afternoon as a thunder storm moved into the area.
NB Power has dispatched crews to assess conditions and make repairs, but they must wait for the storm to subside first.
Traffic lights are reported out across the tri-community area, including along Mapleton and Mountain Roads, Killam Drive, and Dieppe Boulevard among other areas.
Drivers are reminded that intersections are to be treated as four way stops if the traffic lights are down.
Large portions of the city are gridlocked, with major thoroughfares currently without working traffic lights.
Currently, the majority of customers have no estimated restoration times according to NB Power’s website.
